Part 1
Create a life cycle inventory flow analysis for the material assigned to you. Your document should be graphical in nature such as in Figures 12.3, 12.5, and 12.6. It should contain the following:
1. Show all five stages of the life cycle
2. Including data for each stage; amounts, percentages, etc.
3. Show the following flows
o material flows
o energy use
o water use
o waste flows Part 2
Create a streamline life cycle assessment (SLCA) of the material you investigated in Part 1. Your document should be a DfE matrix that is based on the standard five life cycle stages:
pre-manufacture
product manufacture
product packaging
product use
product recycling/disposal
and the five standard environmental concerns except, replace material choice with water use:
water use
energy use
solid residue
liquid residue
gaseous residue
make substantiation for the value you place in each cell by creating scoring guidelines. Complete a minimum of five guidelines. Base the value on your previous and new research in comparison to other construction materials. Please feel free to use numbers or colors or both.
