The question of the research will be: “what are the risk factors associated with TB mortality in patients diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis in single tertiary center (Prince Sultan Military Medical City)m Riyadh,Saudi Arabia.
Thus, the aim of study: to determine the mortality rate of registered adult pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) in Prince Sultan Military Medical City (PSMMC) over the period January 2008 until December 2016 and to determine the risk factors for mortality.
Study design: Retrospective cohort study involving all PTB registered in PSMMC over the period January 2008 until December 2016.
The following parameters will be collected among survivors and non-survivors:The exclusion criteria are age younger than 18 year, only EPTB, deficient data from the medical record. The variables of interest will be collected in the attached data sheet by the primary investigator. The medical records will be manually reviewed and the laboratory investigations will be gathered from electronic system which contains all the investigations of the patients. will These include age, gender, length of hospital stay (LHS), BMI, comorbidities, HIV status, previous TB, sputum results (smear, PCR, and culture), PTB with Extra-pulmonary TB (EPTB), clinical features (fever, night sweating, recent weight loss, anorexia, fatigue, dyspnea, productive cough, dry cough, pleuritic chest pain pleuritic, none pleuritic chest pain, hemoptysis, duration of symptoms, temperature (T), systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), Pulse, respiratory rate (RR), Blood investigation (white blood cell (WBC), lymphocyte, Hemoglobin (Hb), platelets, albumin, blood urea nitrogen, C-reactive protein (CRP)),cavitory lung lesion, miliary TB
